The Huawei EPBD board is an 8-port EPON service interface board in the Huawei MA5680T series OLT equipment, primarily used in fiber access networks to provide Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) access functionality.
This board supports 8 EPON ports, each providing symmetric upstream and downstream rates of 1.25 Gbit/s. It adopts a point-to-multipoint (P2MP) architecture and passive optical transmission technology, with downstream bandwidth shared through Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and upstream access managed via Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA). In terms of split ratio, the EPBD board supports a 1:64 configuration, allowing a single board to connect up to 512 Optical Network Units (ONUs).
The board supports Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA) algorithms, enabling dynamic bandwidth adjustment based on user requirements with a control granularity of 64 kbit/s. It also supports bandwidth control policies based on port, MAC address, IP address, and other parameters.
The EPBD board is suitable for fiber access models such as FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and FTTB (Fiber to the Building), meeting the service needs of residential broadband and enterprise access.
